Première Vision Sport materials show to launch in US

Two trade fair organisers are teaming up to tap into growing demand for high-performance and technical materials for sports and athleisure clothing and footwear.

The move sees organisers of the Première Vision fabric trade fair roll out the Première Vision Sport show in the United States later this year, building on the Sport & Tech sector launched at its Première Vision Paris show last September.

The new event will take place simultaneously and in partnership with The Materials Show, which is organised by American Events and focuses on sports footwear material and component sourcing.

Created more than 25 years ago, the biannual The Materials Show brings together more than 300 exhibitors offering a selection of materials for high-performance sports footwear – including components, fabrics and leathers.

Alongside The Materials Show, Première Vision Sport will introduce a specialized offer for performance and active sports clothing – with fabrics, components and designs presented by a selection of exhibitors from Première Vision's Parisian and international trade shows.

The global sportswear market has seen continued growth between 2011 and 2016 to reach $280bn in 2016, according to Euromonitor International. American brands dominate the worldwide sportswear market, with the US representing 37% of global sales, or $103bn in 2016, with the following break-down: $70bn for sportswear (+4.4%) and $32bn for shoes (+8.8%).

The Materials Show & Première Vision Sport will be staged together for the first time on 14-15 August at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
